Who is Hana: 17 Years of Healing Through Pilates

Life has a way of leading us down unexpected paths. My journey began with a personal struggle—dealing with a spinal condition that challenged my daily life. But looking back, I now see it as the start of something greater: a passion for healing, movement, and the power of Pilates.

From Physiotherapy to Pilates: A Life-Changing Discovery

My career started in Korea, where I worked as a Physiotherapist for five years, helping people recover from injuries and chronic pain. Many of the patients I treated suffered from conditions similar to my own. It was during this time that I discovered Pilates—not just as an exercise method but as a life-changing tool for rehabilitation.

While Pilates didn’t “cure” my spinal condition, it did something just as powerful: it strengthened the muscles around my spine, giving me the support I needed to move without fear of further injury. I realised that Pilates wasn’t just about fitness—it was a way to protect the body, improve posture, and prevent pain before it even starts.

This realisation sparked a new passion. I knew I had to share this knowledge with others. I moved beyond traditional physiotherapy and dedicated the next 17 years to teaching Pilates, specialising in rehabilitation and pain management.

Bringing Pilates to Australia

Five years as a Physiotherapist and 17 years as a Pilates instructor led me to a new chapter—Australia. When I arrived, I saw an opportunity: while Pilates was gaining popularity, many people still didn’t understand its full potential for rehabilitation.

With my personal experience overcoming pain and my years of teaching and treating patients, I embraced the challenge of bringing clinical Pilates to more people who truly needed it. I wanted to help others experience the same freedom from pain that I had found.

22,000 Patients and Counting

Looking back now, I feel incredibly grateful. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping more than 22,000 patients find relief through Pilates. I’ve witnessed the incredible power of movement—how the body can heal when given the right support and guidance.

For me, Pilates isn’t just about exercise. It’s about transformation. It’s about helping people reclaim their strength, move without pain, and enjoy life again.
